Last weekend's gardening

The work week is finally over! I can't say I got a lot of work done, but I'm still looking forward to another weekend in the yard. Things that bloom here are starting to explode, and it will be fun to watch the new plants grow this year. Here's what got started last weekend - the garden below was overgrown with grass and choked by last year's growth. I spent an entire day cleaning out the grass, re-edging this tiny driveway bed, and planting new drought-hardy plants at the sunny end. The barrels were too heavy to move, so I filled them with veggies and herbs and hope they will give us armloads of squash, peppers and tomatoes.

Our rosebush out front is in full bloom, and there's room under my fingernails for this weekend's new dirt. Yay!
